Born in Salisbury, Chris Clark is a self-taught painter. After leaving school he worked in a number of jobs: including a steel worker at Corby in Northamptonshire and a bike messenger in the City of London, before going on to the University of Warwick where he took a degree in Biological Sciences. Upon graduation he took up a post in gastroenterological research at Saint Bartholomew’s Hospital in London. Several years later he changed direction and undertook teacher training in Oxford. As a teacher he worked mainly in London and then Selby in North Yorkshire. He has been married and has two children. At present, he lives and works in York.
